Garpen EU-037 shack

Photos from Sweden... (tnx sm7ucz)

Looks comfy for a radio shack for a w/e.

From the top of the lighthouse looking down and north:

Pud was running search and pounce all night...

Pud is the shack cat.

He loves it when I operate all night long and pops in and out until he ends up just sleeping. In winter his favourite position is sitting on the SDR laptop and chasing the mouse cursor across the screen.
I don't know about managing 5BDXCC but two birds a dove and a pidgeon definitely bought it.

PCB spray on flux lacquer

If you make your own pcb, or manhatten build then consider using SK10 flux lacquer.

You can get it from Rapid
http://www.rapidonline.com/tools-equipment/kontakt-chemie-flux-sk10-spray-200ml-87-0715

Farnell have it listed as well but don't seem to be able to order it.

It keeps your freshly etched pcb looking nice and clean and you can solder through it without having to remove it first (unlike some varnish sprays that have been suggested).

July RSGB IOTA EU-037

For all you IOTA chasers... I'll be doing the solo qrp thing again from Sweden during the RSGB IOTA contest

Garpen Island which is also an active Light House. EU-037 Over on the right hand side of Sweden.
About 3 or 4 km from the mainland.

Satellite photo.. the station and antennas will be on the Northern 'spit'

GRID SQUARE JO86bj

It  will be a LONG call sign so when logging please for heavens sake get it right !

SM7/M1KTA/P (CW) or Sierra Mike Seven Stroke Mike One Kilo Tango Alpha Stroke Portable (SSB) I will be confirming qso by LoTW as soon as I am able, QSL cards will be direct buro cards will be very slow, please include $5 to cover postage.

I have confirmed that I will be using the shed/hut on the left and will use the whole shore line beyond for antennas. (vertical dipoles and maybe a VDA)

Garpen is a bit of a holiday day trip place some days when WX is nice so I'll grab food from a cafe on the island. If WX is bad I will probably get stuck on the island  so will keep making qso.

Should be qrv from early on the Saturday 26th (maybe 25th overnight) to last light on Sunday 27th

I will be using batteries and solar power but I will also have power with extension cable from next house.

Quick fly in, train and fly out.

See you in the contest.

Commonwealth Contest BERU 2014

Nice to read had thought about being given travelers award!!

UBN is in given only 68 qso total pretty poor really. Note how many broken serials :-) Nice to know many calls were not busted.

This I expected as the speed of some ops was just too great for me so never tried to RX the serial.

So many non BERU stations calling.
