PIC-A-STAR parts

Almost a whole STAR line up except the IF bits...
 
After a clean up in workshop and moving the made up STAR panels to one side find I have a few extra PCB from Glenn original panels I am not likely to use.

DDS board and the 28pin DIL one it fits on
DSP Board Ver A for the LARGER footprint DSP chip.
DSP Motherboard for above
CODEC board ditto
2 opto encoder PCB Ver A & B
Rotary encoder from B panel I think
BPF (including the side and end panels
Front panel Ver B
2 pic n mix (?) Ver A & Ver B
Panel B opto isolate PCB
Panel B  section with little squares (I used one as was useful for a breakout board. 

Anyone interested I had bought them myself so sell on at cost? Would consider splitting and could post almost anywhere at your cost.

Please if the PCB is not in that list don’t ask as I will not have it.

Due to min order numbers etc I *DO* have some have some extra components too (LED, discretes, IC (e.g. ADSP2181 -133, FST 3125M, FST3126M, AD1885 CODEC), ALL of the TOKO for the BPF (three will need a mod so can be used)) I will come back to the blog with exactly what I have ‘spare'  as I know the needs vary depending which boards you use. 
 
I mean it.... please don’t ask yet about components as I need time to go through them fully. I will post what I have.

I'm pretty sure the CODEC PCB and IC's when I get that far have already been spoken for. 

ATS-3 for sale

I have both an ATS3a and an ATS3b and I have decided to sell the ATS3A ...

I built and aligned this one myself a while back. The ATS-3B pretty sure details of it are on this blog Colin Tuckley finished it off for me and added a 60m module

The details are:

Steven Weber's, KD1JV, AT Sprint III (ATS-3) is a fully synthesized 5W CW transceiver which covers ALL of the 80, 40, 30 and 20M ham bands (with 4 included band modules) and employs a high degree of SMT (surface mount technology).  When the rig is powered up, it comes up on the QRP frequency for that band (3.560, 7.040, 10.110, 14.060 MHz).  All functions are accessed with 4 momentary contact push buttons - Menu, RIT, Tune Up and Tune Down.  External connectors include: antenna, power, phones, and paddle / key.  The rig may be powered with 6 - 12VDC with the output power varying between 1W and 5W accordingly.

These radios were never mass made and good examples are not available often so that might make this worth having. So if interested get in touch.

Trimming down workshop/shack

Hi all,

Trimming down the workshop/shack as have too many rigs.

Built K2 with modules fitted and working.

KAT-2 ATU
KAF-2 filter & RTC
KNB-2 NB filter
KSB-2 SSB
K160RX 160m (2nd antenna)
KIO2 (actually got two available)

Genuine new Elecraft MH2 mike that matches and is for the K2 (two of them so will sell one of them separately the other goes with the above), will also work with Elecraft K3.

The original kit and modules (still got the postal charge HMRC/VAT & receipts from Elecraft Sales) just looked and same set would be $1749.11 and then you’d have to build and align it all.

I also have a NEW 100W heatsink, PIC chip for it (so you could use K2 to drive almost any PA) and an empty EC2 aka K2 enclosure..

7"LCD for the Raspberry PI for KX3 Panadapter and SDR display

Finally managed to get the 7" TFT and touch screen to work with the V2 RaspberryPi B model and it seems to run as a pan adapter for one of my KX3 fine, I also tried using it with an RTL SDR  USB dongle and it runs FB.

I had this running using a tiny 2.8" TFT which was fine but not terribly usable.

I might see if I can get the SDRPlay working using it as well. Photos and video later.

Using a HDMI connector from the TFT to the Raspberry Pi not the Pi's own DSI (ribbon cable). I have done this as I expect this might see use when DX trips urge me to use another display.

Technically I stood on so many shoulders to get this working I will not list them all but this used a 7" TFT 800x600 AT070TN92 based display (was cheap off eBay) and then used a recovered display driver board VS-TY2662-V1from a defunct PC display (thanks to research from my Dad as to exactly which board it was) so I have VGA, composite (so those Hotel TV's can be used as well!) and HDMI.... The board allows both TTL or LVDS output so you 'can' use many different TFT panels as long as they have one or other of them... still trying to find a decent data sheet, and list of panels it works with,  I tried (for fun) with my junked laptop which I ripped the screen out of it is some 16:9 1366 x 768 resolution, and it will drive that as well. There are a few other connections on the board but not worked out what they are yet or what they do.

The display driver looks very close to this one which seems to do the same thing.



The numbers mean on the image (comparing to mine as well)

1. 12V display (will actually work 5v to 15v)

The  touchscreen used with the TFT is a separate USB powered 'thing' from Alibaba.

The 7" displays  and touch screens I think were possibly for use in GPS or tablets and the recent explosion in their availability and use has seen prices of some models tumble sharply.

SCC renewed... M1K lives another 3 years




At least one QRP SCC that will be on the air again... the renewal came through this morning.

4SQ / Four Square Antenna Controller relays

The relays arrived yesterday...


I just tested one..



So will be looking to built a prototype tonight.

They have 240V AC 10A contacts so should be fine for a qrp 4SQ, even up to 150W I believe.
