George et al,
Peter (he is in the 6W log 2x qrp SSB using G3JFS and GO3JFS) has asked me to try cw again so will do so, want to try to work gqrp members, I have no hand key though just through pc, I broke the connector plug to the palm paddle. I will be qrv on 20m between 14.040 and 14.050 listening up 2 in evenings, even the M3 and M6 stations are getting through on 10w ssb with rst 43 to 56 so cw should be easier. I will be 12 wpm or there about, short rubber stampish qso only though. All contacts are being recorded at this end.

Thanks C5YX for the comment please read my licence:
I even arranged this through a legal firm INSIDE THE GAMBIA.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteNice to see you are in The Gambia.
But I 'm very surpriced. you promoot the code of conduct otherwise you use , the callsign C5/ your callsign .
This is not permitted in C5.
It is very easy to become by normal way a Gambian callsign. To do this way is not good for other radioamateurs in the fuhters.

I need to respond to this one.
ReplyDeleteThe call is both permitted and it is my licence and all my documentation has that callsign. C5YK please check with Rodine Renner at PURA before posting such a comment as you are 100% wrong.
I REQUESTED and obtained C5/M1KTA just as I REQUESTED and obtained 6W/M1KTA
I have operated in many dxcc and that is how I prefer operating. IMHO CEPT should be adopted more universally to allow amateurs to both operate in other countries and to maintain an identity that they are not local. The main reason why I requested /M1KTA is for those reasons very simple really and it also makes any qsl route easy to understand.

See you on the bands.
I think PURA will auto allocate a C5xxx call but if you request C5/ you may get it. There is a new licencing authority in The Gambia so what happens now is not the same as went before so the pre 1995 C5/ type allocation that was not available recently (I was aware) is available upon request. I'd rather not try and pass off as a local call and use C5/M1KTA.
ReplyDeleteAnyway cw cq again on 20m 14.044 up 2.
Thanks for picking me up on 20m CW at 0610z this morning, guess you went QRT for good less than an hour later?
ReplyDeleteI needed The Gambia for my Diamond DXCC-award, I now stand at 197 countries worked according to the original DXCC-list from 1937.
I operated as C56SMT from Banjul/Sanyang/Bakau in December 2009, made 3100 CW-QSO during a family vacation. Might go back to C5 some day, I enjoyed the country.
